6th and 7th grade Innovators will be immerse in learning to design and develop solutions to solve a variety of physical science based dilemmas. You will be introduced to using a design thinking process to research, ideate, design, prototype, and iterate your solutions until your solution to meet a particular performance expectation.

Jedi Initiation Quest

What do I need to learn so that I am successful in STEAM?

In this initiation process, our innovators will be learning how to learn the basics of computing by learning how use the Innovator’s Hub to communicate and collaborate with other, participate in a variety of activities, and demonstrate what you know. Innovators will also learning how to organize themselves on Google Drive so that they know where all of their digital files are.

I Am Quest

How do I express who I am to an audience?

Innovators will need to explore who they are as a person and as a learner. With this research they will put together an multimedia I Am Poem express who they are to an audience.

Balancing the Forces Quest

How do objects balance?

Innovators will be investigating how objects balance by applying Newton’s Laws Motion a variety of balance based scenerios. Given all the things the innovator’s research, they will design a multi-layer mobile that balances.

Bridge Over Troubled Waters Quest

How do I design a bridge safe enough for people to cross?

Innovators will be applying the concepts in Balancing the Forces and analyzing the forces that bridges endure so that our Innovators are able to build and test bridge until it meet performance standards.

Kite Flyer Quest

How do objects sustain flight?

Innovators will be applying the concepts in Balancing the Forces and analyzing the forces that objects that sustain flight use. Innovator’s will use the concepts of flight to design a kites that will sustain balance in mid-air and flight?

Rube Goldberg Machine Quest

How are chain reaction of simple machines use to perform a simple task?

Innovators will be explore simple machines and what they do. They will use a combination of simple to create a chain reaction so that a tasks is formed at the end.
